Second Steering Committee Meeting for Reviewing the National Cooling Strategy

On Thursday 15th of August 2023, Cool Up programme presented the National Cooling Strategy (NCS) for Jordan to the steering committee led by the Ministry of Environment. The meeting took place in the offices of the Royal Scientific Society in Amman, Jordan. The steering committee is composed of representatives from the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources, Ministry of Agriculture, Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization, Ministry of Public Works and Housing/Jordan National Building Council (JNBC) and Jordan Customs Department.
This is the second round of stakeholder consultation in the process of the development of the national cooling strategy in Jordan, planned to be adopted in November 2023, and presented during COP28 in December of this year.
The NCS identifies key strategic areas for upscaling sustainable cooling in Jordan and provides a framework for the national cooling action plan that will be developed consecutively and will describe concrete policy action.
Cool Up is a consortium led by Guidehouse and composed of ten international and regional organisations. In Jordan, the Cool Up Programme is implemented by the Royal Scientific Society and UNDP Jordan.
As the process continues, the Ministry of Environment and the Royal Scientific Society remain dedicated to fostering collaboration and incorporating valuable feedback to ensure the successful implementation of the National Cooling Strategy and its subsequent action plan.
